Media Awareness Network's MyWorld:

mnet_s-myworld_bi_ab_nov11-1.png MyWorld helps secondary students develop the decision-making and critical thinking skills necessary to actively and positively engage with digital media. Much like the complementary elementary resource, Passport to the Internet, MyWorld uses simulations of online environments, such as search engines, instant messaging, social networking sites and file-sharing services, to teach students digital literacy skills. To reflect the complexity of their online activities, students playing MyWorld assume a variety of roles  -  student, friend, peer and mentor  -  as they use the simulated online tools within the tutorial to address bullying and ethical behaviour, do homework, and manage relationships and their privacy. ata.gif Automatic Specialist Council Memberships are here!

As a result of a resolution passed at the Alberta Teachers’ Association’s (ATA’s) 2007 Annual Representative Assembly, active members of the ATA have the opportunity to join one specialist council of their choice each year at no charge.

Specialist councils are an integral part of the Association’s activities. Granting members automatic membership in a specialist council is an innovative step toward increasing Professional Development opportunities for educators throughout Alberta and a way of promoting the professional expertise of teachers in curriculum and specialty areas.
